After 15 years working in corporate IT and living a pretty normal life, I was hit without warning by severe burnout, which left me bed-bound for 6 months, unable to do anything.

Multiple medical specialists prescribed antidepressants, pain killers and sleeping tablets. Refusing to accept this was my only solution and driven by a deep intuition, I embarked on a journey of discovery and an unfamiliar path to recovery.

Through a blend of holistic and homeopathic therapies that reconnected me with Mother Nature and by removing toxic stimulants from daily life, things started to improve.

My energy returned, my mood lifted, my mindset shifted, and I was back on my feet, feeling like the real me for the first time in a long while. Inspired and motivated, I started making healthier choices by switching artificial ingredients for natural alternatives.

Things continued to improve, although I couldn’t find a natural energy drink and supplement to support my lifestyle and daily routines, so I recruited a team of experts to search the market as what I needed simply didn’t exist.

We found lots of well-marketed ‘healthy’, ‘natural’, 'mood enhancing', 'good for you' options, however they were loaded with caffeine, added sugar, artificial flavourings, synthetics fillers and additives. The more we looked, the clearer it became that the industry was thriving on perception rather than authenticity. Something had to change!

So with a fierce desire to innovate and to redefine a market full of compromises, while nurturing people and our planet, the mission was underway.

Authentic Brew was born.

After taking a break from alcohol in 2012, I experienced profound changes in my mind, body, career, and overall life which set me on a path of self-discovery to become one of the world’s leading figures on alcohol-free performance.

Since then I’ve founded the OneYearNoBeer (OYNB) movement and co-created Dryy, a willpower-free method to quit or control alcohol, helping thousands of people improve their overall health, performance and happiness. What is next for me?

Back in 2020, I wrote out my Big Hairy Audacious Goals (BHAGs) and pinned them up on my bedroom wall to see them every day. They included writing a book, giving a Ted Talk, starting a coaching business and walking the 500 mile Camino. Fast forward 5 years and all those goals had been achieved, apart from one.

The outstanding goal was to find a way of doing something deeply impactful for our beautiful planet and the generations that follow. How could I make a meaningful difference or to put it another way ‘to plant trees who’s shade I may never sit under’?

When Mike shared the idea for Authentic Brew I knew I had to be involved as it aligned so closely with my personal mission, my views and my values.

When I found out that 25% of net profits would go to Rewilding People and Places via the Authentic Brew Foundation - I was all in!
